1. Velvet - I've seen a lot of party dresses that are velvet this year. Typically they are a red or dusty rose colour, but if you're looking to stand out, cobalt blue also looks good! Of course, velvet is a winter time staple, it just seems to be really big this year. Pair your dress with strappy heels for a very chic and sophisticated winter look.
2. Satin - I typically think of satin as a year-round texture, but I've seen a lot of dresses and skirts in satin, They look absolutely gorgeous and give off very glam vibes. You could pair a satin (or silk!) skirt with a cozy sweater and some edgy black ankle boots to complete a super trendy outfit.
3. Black on Black - I don't think I could ever pull this off, but it looks amazing. This look is super in for holiday parties this year, but I don't think it is very well suited for family dinners. This trend looks especially great in satin and leather (or faux leather) but can totally be done with sequins or velvet as well.
4. Neutral Glam - I have seen so many glittery and sequin pieces since fall started, and all in neutral colours! This trend really makes glitter seem a lot more grown-up and really glamorous. I feel like these are really eye-catching pieces, without screaming for attention. Any of these would be super cute paired with a cozy pair of knee high boots.
5. Vintage Touches - This may be just because we're heading back into the 20's, but I've seen so many pieces that reflect that style. Many have glittery details that look vert Art Deco, or sets with lots of tassels like a flapper dress. I'll definitely be going for a more vintage look with my party outfits this year.
