Is It Functional? (The Importance of a Well-Fitted Outfit Pt. 3)

Writer's picture: EmEm

Last night, I went out with my boyfriend and I wore my favourite jean skirt, but I found myself consistently pulling it down. I realized that I have a few pieces in my wardrobe like this. They're totally cute, but they just aren't functional.

Whenever I have an outfit that is pushing the functionality boundaries, I ask myself "Would Nancy Drew wear this". Everyone knows that Nancy always found herself in compromising situations, but she never let her outfits get in the way. So when I get dressed I try to keep in mind my activities for the day. If I'm biking, I'll be sure to wear shorts or pants. Or If I plan on spending the day downtown, I probably won't wear heels. It all goes back to wearing what you're comfortable in!

Going back to my first post, if you aren't comfortable, it will ruin your day. So when I plan on an outfit for later, I either pick one I've worn and know I love, or I'll try it on beforehand. This can go for shopping too! Always try your clothes on. Imagine a day in them, and if there's even a slight problem, you should pass. It'll save you closet space and money. Not trying stuff on is a bad habit of mine that I totally need to break.
